The Royal Yachting Association's Syllabus

Whether you've never set foot on a sailing boat or have just tacked once or twice on a dinghy and would like to learn more, our courses will help you progress and discover the true last frontier of out times: the high seas.

Our syllabus follows the Royal Yachting Association's guidelines, to make it easy for our trainees to take up the standard courses offered in the United Kingdom.

Start Yachting

Start Yachting is a two-day course for complete beginners and provides them with a short introduction to sailing on a cruiser.

Comptent Crew

Following that, or if you have already acquired some experience sailing with friends or on dinghies, Competent Crew is aimed at people aiming at becoming active crew members on board.

Day Skipper

Attending these first courses should have given you a taste of the sea and made you wish to go further and become a Day Skipper. This course requires that you attend a 40 hours theoretical shorebased course and at least a 5 day liveaboard course, during which you will experience being in charge of a yacht.
